The NFL has started taking strict action against gambling in the league. The new NFL gambling policies are also made to prevent players from any such illegal activity, and it seems like culprits have already been located.
Recently, during a gambling investigation in Iowa State, it has been found that Eyioma Uwazurike, suspended DL of the Denver Broncos, is involved in illegal sports betting. According to a complaint filed Tuesday in the Iowa District Court for Story County, the DL allegedly bet on the Broncos and Iowa State games. Many other players, including Aaron Blom, have also been found guilty of sports betting and facing serious charges.
Eyioma Uwazurike could potentially end up in jail for 2-years
A few months ago, officials at Iowa State were notified that many athletes in the State are actively involved in prohibited online sports wagering. Since then, the investigation was underway but on Tuesday a report was filed against Eyioma Uwazurike.
Eyioma Uwazurike was drafted by the Broncos with the 116th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. In the last season, he recorded 17 tackles. He was suspended by the league in July because he was accused of illegal betting. The DL was hoping to petition for reinstatement in July 2024.
However, the recent report of him being involved in illegal sports betting in Iowa State games can put an end to his career. Rumors are that for all the charges he is facing, he might end up in jail for 2 years.

The 25-year-old is facing charges of alleged gambling. He is accused of betting on games of the two teams, the Broncos and Iowa State games in which he played. In total, he had bet on 32 games.
According to the complaint, Eyioma Uwazurike is accused of “knowingly and intentionally falsify(ing) personal electronic sports wagering records by concealing his personal identity in said records with the intent to deceive or conceal a wrongdoing knowing he had no privilege or right to do so.”

For these charges, the DL can end up in jail for two years. It will badly affect his NFL career and his personal life as well.
The NFL has been strict about illegal betting on games. Now that the league has started taking action against players who are involved in illegal betting, we can expect that the NFL will become a fair place for everyone, and the players will not get involved in such illegal activities.
