One of the most sought-after tight ends in the modern game, Travis Kelce is no stranger to controversies. He says it comes with being successful, however, the Chiefs starlet might have stirred up yet another after his recent U-turn with regard to the COVID-19 vaccine.
In a bizarre turn of events, Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift has now led to the pop sensation being blamed for this fiasco. The 33-year-old has received a barrage of resentful comments, ever since the news broke.
Netizens blame Taylor Swift for Travis Kelce commercial
Amid dating rumors, people have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to blame Taylor Swift for the sudden change in Travis Kelce’s judgment on the COVID-19 vaccine. “Sold out to get Taylor’s attention,” said one user, claiming that the Chiefs TE got the jabs just to impress Swift.
Addressing the dating rumors around the two, Kelce said, “I threw the ball in her court and told her, ‘I’ve seen you rock the stage at Arrowhead. You might have to come see me rock the stage at Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit. We’ll see what happens in the near future.”
Earlier this month, he also admitted to slipping his phone number to Taylor Swift during one of her “Era’s Tour” concerts. “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” he told the interviewer. “So, I was a little bit hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
Kelce’s changed stance on vaccination
After being initially hesitant about the vaccine, the two-time Super Bowl winner has now done a complete 180. In a recent Instagram video sponsored by Pfizer, Kelce is seen taking his 4th jab. This has led to a strong wave of backlash from the NFL community, hurling allegations of hypocrisy and deceit.
Travis Kelce attributed his decision to security concerns for his family. In a recent interview, he said, “I love being around family, [so] it was just kind of a family decision that if everybody got the vaccine, we would be able to be around each other safely and comfortably. So that was the biggest thing — it was huge for family. I was definitely hesitant, but it’s only here to help us, and I’m here to just spread the word to try and encourage everybody to get it.”
“Just being able to get back around each other, and I think this vaccine is only going to help make everybody safer and more comfortable to get back to daily life.”, he added, talking about the positive effects of getting the vaccine.
