Tekken 8 has taken off after its launch. Players are enjoying the great combat, next-gen graphics, and fantastic story mode, so much that it is appearing on the list of best-selling games this year.
For those who are done with the campaign story, Bandai Namco has some good news. News about Tekken 8’s DLC has finally appeared, which will add to the lore and introduce new playable characters.
Tekken 8 set to introduce new story mode chapter
In Tekken 8, the story resumes sometime after the events of Tekken 7. Capcom was rumored to release a DLC, and Katshuro Harada has just confirmed that it is indeed coming sometime this May. But some channels have reported that each DLC character will have a separate story mode.

But that is not the case. The story will be unified and contain playable characters from the DLC. Even if you haven’t purchased the DLC characters or the season pass, you will be able to play them. The new story expansion will be completely free, and anyone who purchased the original title can download it for free.
The DLC story is connected with the main campaign. The characters featured in them will have a major impact on Mishima and JIn as part of the Tekken lore. Eddie is confirmed to appear as a DLC character in season one. It will be interesting to see him take on Mishima after his encounter with G Corporation.
Tekken 8 was one of the top-selling new release US game in January
The success of Tekken 8 was confirmed when it became the second best-selling game in the US for January, as per tech4gamers. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 took the first spot, but it was released last year. For any new title released this year, Tekken 8 took the honors for first place. It is reported to have sold two million units until now.

This is nothing to be amazed at, as Street Fighter 6 also had a great release last year. It got great reviews and has sold 3 million units as of 2024. We expect Tekken 8 to overcome this if it continues to ride the hype train like this all year long.
