Tetairoa McMillan’s Viral Clip Raises Concerns Ahead of NFL Draft

With just a few weeks left until the NFL Draft, teams are busy preparing to pick the top prospects. One of the most talked-about names on that list is Arizona Wildcats’ Tetairoa McMillan, who was named the 2024 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year.

However, an old video of him has resurfaced, raising concerns within the NFL community about his passion for football.

A two-year-old video of Tetairoa McMillan has resurfaced. In it, he candidly declares, “I don’t like football.” He also mentions that he doesn’t watch films alone since his team reviews them together.

Analyst Warren Sharp pointed out that the clip came from a 2023 podcast, meaning it’s outdated. Although the clip was recorded during his freshman year, its reappearance has sparked concerns about his commitment as he enters the NFL.

Despite the ongoing debate, McMillan’s performance tells a different story. He has posted back-to-back seasons with over 1,300 receiving yards, including 84 catches for 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024.

While some remain skeptical, analysts like Sharp stress that the clip doesn’t reflect McMillan’s current mindset. However, not everyone, including Pro Football Focus analyst Dalton Wasserman, is convinced.

Tetairoa McMillan leaves Dalton Wasserman deep in thought

As the 2025 NFL Draft gets closer, Dalton Wasserman, a top Pro Football Focus (PFF) analyst, is struggling with a common problem: overthinking Tetairoa McMillan’s draft value.

McMillan was once seen as a top prospect, but his draft stock has dropped a lot. Wasserman shared his thoughts, saying, “I really don’t understand. Lately, when we’ve seen mock drafts drop him into the late teens or even the 20s.”

He added, “I don’t know if he should get outside the top eight, honestly… There’s a lot of overthinking going on right now. All ‘this is just another big receiver that can’t separate.”
