The Brutal Truth Behind Dana White avoiding Jon Jones for an entire year

Jon Jones is considered by many people as the greatest fighter to have ever set foot inside the UFC octagon. Beside his success inside the octagon, the 34-year old is barely contacted by UFC President Dana White.

The last time Jon Jones fought was back in February of 2020 when he defended his Light Heavyweight title against Dominic Reyes. It was his 13th title defense, a record which is unprecedented, and to be fair, quite far off for anyone to reach at the moment. He later relinquished his title with intentions of moving up to the heavyweight division to pursue a second divisional championship.

But ever since then, he is yet to fight inside the octagon.

When asked about his future plans, Jones said he was targeting a return in April or July of 2022, ” “I’m looking to fight somewhere in April, possibly Madison Square Garden, or a total opposite date, possibly July at International Fight Week. “Those are the two dates that I’m kind of eying. I think it’ll depend on who wins in January between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane, and we’ll just take it from there.”

But surprisingly enough no progressive talks have taken place between Jon Jones and Dana White regarding the fight. Dana admitted that they had spoken only once for the entirety of 2021, “He said that he wants to come back next year, which is, we’re looking at a few weeks away. And I’m sure that a lot of his decision making will come after we see what happens in the heavyweight (title) fight. Once that happens in January, we’ll know more about what Jon wants to do.”

“We probably talked once. I think we had a text session back and forth one time this year,”
