Morant acknowledged that he did not possess the pistol in an exclusive interview with former NBA player Jalen Rose and that he had sought counseling in Florida as a result of the incident.
In an interview with former NBA player and ESPN analyst Jalen Rose Ja Morant said, “The gun wasn’t mine. It’s not who I am, I don’t condone any type of violence, but I take full responsibility for my actions. I made a bad mistake and I can see now the image that I painted over myself with my recent mistakes.”
“In the future, Imma show everybody who Ja really is and what I’m about and change this narrative.”
After the event, Morant was not with the squad, and his Twitter and Instagram accounts were shut down. His eight-game sentence has officially been issued by the NBA, with the five games he has already missed counting towards the suspension. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Morant might make his court debut as soon as March 20.
