“I’m not at all [interested in Andre Muniz] because he’s Brazilian. You know, I’m not going to call out Brazilians because it’s all love. Of course, if the UFC wants it, I’m not gonna say ‘No, I called out Derek Brunson,” Borralho told at the UFC Fight Night 223 post-fight press conference.
“I heard he doesn’t have a fight. I called him out before my last fight against Makhmud (Muradov) and he was saying, ‘OK, go win two more fights and then we can dance.’ Right now, I think the music is on, so it’s time to dance, Brunson.”
Brunson was last seen inside the octagon against Dricus Du Plessis. Du Plessis will most possibly have the next shot at middleweight gold against newly crowned champion Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya.
Brunson who has talked about retirement at various occasions and is currently on a two-fight losing streak. Brunson last entered the cage on March 4th at UFC 285 losing via KO in round two.
Borralho on the other hand is currently riding high on a four fight winning streak. Although Borralho is still unranked in the middleweight division, a fight with an elite contender in Brunson seems to be the perfect step in his career.
Caio Borralho vs Derek Brunson match-up
Borralho’s triumph over Oleksiejczuk was his fourth consecutive octagon victory and his first finish under the UFC banner. Borralho claims that his performance demonstrates how dangerous he is and that he is sick of people criticizing his ability to finish.
“I feel amazing and blessed,” Borralho said. “I shut up all the doubters that said that I couldn’t finish a fight. I don’t need to say anything anymore.”
Brunson who excels in wrestling and has a solid ground game, also possesses elite striking skills. His victories against Kevin Holland and Darren Till are examples of his capabilities inside the octagon.
Borralho’s on the other hand is also an elite wrestler who looks like a master at smoothly gliding through guards and setting up submissions so a bout against Brunson could be a tough one for him.
