Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently revealed a specific role he could be interested in taking on if WWE management opens up a position in the future. Many fans, current WWE superstars, and WWE legends were shocked by his surprising statement.
The Rock is one of the big names in the entertainment industry. His legacy in the film and wrestling industry is still visible to date. But recently, he opened up about the future of WWE and was asked about a possible sale of the company.
The former WWE superstar replied, “I’ve known Vince for a very, very long time and he’s a businessman. I think the key if there were a sale of the WWE is to make sure that whoever acquires that brand on that property, you’ve got to love the wrestling business.
“Of course, you can love the asset, and you can love everything that comes with it, but you’ve got to love the professional wrestling business because if not, then you could kind of see the writing on the wall; four or five years down the road, what will happen?”
The late retirement of former Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon made Stephanie McMahon Chairwoman & Co-CEO with Nick Khan. Some reports say that Johnson has a pretty good relationship with Nick Khan and he has previously shared his desire to him. “Nick and I have talked about that, and we always enjoy that over a bottle of Teremana (Rock’s tequila brand),”
Johnson revealed the potential role saying, “I love the wrestling business. I grew up in it. My grandfather and my dad started here in Canada, where he was born. So, I’m not quite sure if a board seat is in my future, but possibly other things are in my future, for sure. ”
However, it’s not confirmed yet whether the whole sale thing is really going to happen or not, but it’s safe to say the company will certainly be in safe hands. Khan and other WWE executives have stated in recent years that WWE is not actively looking for a buyer, but they are always open to ideas.
