The much-anticipated fight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis will go down on April 22nd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The mega-fight between two exceptional lightweight prodigies was in the making for a very long time and now hopefully all the bad blood will get settled inside the squared ring this Saturday.
Garcia, a while back had shared one incident of animosity between them. Referring to an altercation that occurred in a club, He had said,
“He’s a tough guy, I went up to his table with this guy [a friend of Garcia] and we said ‘yo are we gonna make this fight happen?’ and I guess he got offended by that.” “Then I was like ‘yo what you on about man, no respect here?’ and then he responds with ‘nah, there ain’t no respect here,‘”
Ryan Garcia told the story of his altercation with Gervonta Davis at a club late last year when Gervonta grabbed hold of his chain…

Garcia continued “He took my chain but I wasn’t worried about it,” said Garcia in a previous live stream on Instagram. “There are so many security guards there, I knew he wasn’t gonna take my chain. He just wanted to seem tough,”
How does Ryan Garcia match-up against the ‘Tank’?
‘Tank’, 28, Davis defeated Hector Garcia in January and has won all 28 of his professional fights to date. ‘KingRy’, 24, on the other hand defeated Javier Fortuna last summer and has won 23 straight bouts. Given that both fighters are willing to risk their full purse, Davis vs. Garcia promises to potentially be one of the grandest fights of 2023.
Going into the fight Garcia is considered to be a slight underdog, Davis who has previously held IBF and WBO titles on separate occasions seems to be a massive favorite in the boxing community.
‘Tank’ without a doubt has more championship level experience and has fought more elite opponents in comparison to Ryan. But it’s hard to question Garcia’s willingness to win this fight.
He has been calling for this fight for more than a year and now when the opportunity is right in front of him, one can expect him to go all out on this one. Talking about his intent for this fight, Garcia says,
“I’m not gonna let myself lose this fight. I don’t care if I’m tired, I don’t care nothing. He’s going to really have to put me to sleep in order to even get me off of him. I’m hitting him with hard shots the whole fight. I’m coming to knock him out, that’s it.”
