“This checked all those boxes”: Ex- Broncos QB Trevor Siemian cites Bengals as the best fit for reviving his career

Ex- Broncos star player, Trevor Siemian is prepared to begin a new chapter with the Cincinnati Bengals and believes this squad is ideal for his potential success in the NFL.

By agreeing to a one-year deal with free agent quarterback QB Siemian for the 2023 season on Wednesday, the Bengals gained a new quarterback and a backup for Joe Burrow.

On Monday, Trevor shared his thoughts with the media for the first time since joining the Bengals’ roster. The quarterback was visibly overjoyed with the deal because, in his words, the team perfectly matched his desires and met all of his expectations for a successful NFL career.

“I just think I just wanted to find a good fit. Somewhere I can come in and contribute. This checked all those boxes.”

Having played for four different teams since joining the league, Siemian started 24 games for the Broncos in the 2016 and 2017 seasons before primarily serving as a backup. The Bengals now view him as a valuable backup quarterback, particularly if Burrow happens to miss a few games.

Since the 2016 season, the Northwestern product has mostly served as a dependable backup option for teams throughout the league, and he views himself as a great backup quarterback for Bengal’s experienced quarterback room.

“Familiarity at this stage in my career is huge. Kind of knowing what they’re trying to coach, get across, I think is pretty important, especially in the quarterback room,” the quarterback said.

The 31-year-old was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 250th overall pick in the 7th round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Prior to playing for the Bronchos, he enjoyed a fruitful high school and college career. In 2014, his 2,214 passing yards put him just outside the top 10 in NU single-season history.

Burrow has led the Bengals to five postseason victories, so a backup for him should be a formidable one. In this case, the team’s decision to bring in TS as a backup for JB is seen as a wise one.
