Tommy Fury, being the younger brother of the heavyweight great Tyson Fury, has attained some experience of his own in boxing. He made his pro debut back in 2022, and has stacked up an undefeated record with 10 wins and no losses. But what made him soar to popularity was his venture into crossover boxing.
Fury’s triumph over the Jake Paul brought him into the limelight like never before, as he stripped Paul of his undefeated streak. And to top it off, Fury later stripped another undefeated influencer boxer of his record when he defeated KSI, further cementing his status.
Tommy Fury issues a boxing challenge to Conor McGregor
Tommy’s last appearance was in October of 2023 when he hailed victorious over KSI. Ever since, he has been waiting to step foot in the ring again. But recently, with the shocking announcement for Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson, Fury issued a call-out of his own.
The British boxer took up an opportunity of a highly unpredictable phase in boxing and called out ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor for a boxing match. He said, “I’ve seen Jake Paul is fighting Mike Tyson. Why not me and McGregor next? I’d like him for my return. McGregor, get in touch.”
Conor is accustomed to receiving call-outs from various fighters. Last year, after Logan Paul defeated his sparring partner Dillon Danis in a boxing match, he issued a challenge to McGregor in his post-fight interview. Even before that, Jake Paul engaged in a spree of throwing digs at McGregor with the hope of securing a fight with him.
McGregor, who has made one appearance as a boxer against Floyd Mayweather, generating one of the highest-grossing boxing events of all time, has expressed interest in boxing again since then.
Tommy Fury notes the obvious Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson issue
As everyone is still processing the sanction of Paul vs Tyson, Fury shared his thoughts regarding the fight. He predicted that the fight would not be competitive but a lackluster where both fighters would somehow cruise through the rounds and secure a payday.
In the same interview, Tommy also addressed rumors of him boxing Roy Jones Jr, stating, “It is not my thing,” referring to his desire for actual competition instead of retired veterans.
It would be intriguing to see whom Fury decides to face next, as he has turned himself into a big name and is an attractive draw for a lot of fights.
