The 2023 NFL offseason is shaping up to be one of the most exciting ones in recent memory, with a host of big-name players set to hit the free agency market.
The murmuring regarding who is eventually going to be a free agent when all these will be over is speculating in the air already as the 2023 NFL Draft begins on April 27.
We have come up with a few names to add fuel to those speculations from our side. At the top of the list are two of the league’s most dynamic quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens and Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
1. Lamar Jackson, Quarterback, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson, the 2019 MVP, is considered by many to be the most electrifying player in the NFL. He has proven that a quarterback can win in the league with a unique play style, and his 4.9% big-time throw rate since 2019 is a top-16 mark among qualifying quarterbacks.
Additionally, his 93.3 passing grade on throws 10-plus yards downfield in that same span is a testament to his abilities as a passer.
This season, the 26-year-old played 12 games with 17; passing touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Despite the Ravens’ tendency to neglect the wide receiver position, Jackson’s game continues to impress, and he will be a highly sought-after free agent this offseason.
It’s still unknown which team he might join next season but surely many teams are already preparing to seal the 26-year-old for the long haul.
2. Tom Brady, Quarterback, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Another big-name player that will be hitting the market this offseason is quarterback Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
While it remains unclear whether Brady wants to play for another season, it’s clear that he is still among the elite throwers in the NFL. In his first season with the Buccaneers in 2020, he led the team to a Super Bowl victory and followed it up with a 13-win 2021 campaign.
Despite his age, Brady’s 79.3 passing grade ranks seventh on the season, and his 2.5% turnover-worthy play rate ranked eighth lowest among qualifying quarterbacks.
Even at 45, Brady is still among the league’s best players, and teams will no doubt be clamoring to sign him during free agency.
Some honorable Mentions
Other notable players who will be hitting the market this offseason include QB Sam Darnold of the Carolina Panthers, Defensive end Zach Allen of the Arizona Cardinals, and Line back T.J. Edwards of the Philadelphia Eagles.
All of these players are considered to be among the best in their respective positions and will likely draw significant interest from teams looking to upgrade their rosters.
The date for the stupendous Super Bowl LVII, 2023 approaches and will take place at State Farm Stadium, Arizona, United States on February 12, 6.30 PM (Eastern). After that, we are going to come up with an updated list of all the notable free agents.
With the first day of free agency just three months away, the anticipation is building for the upcoming season and the chance for teams to improve their rosters and compete for the Super Bowl title.
