Watford captain Troy Deeney is one of the major targets of Tottenham Hotspurs in the summer transfer.
Tottenham manager, Jose Mourinho has already allowed to send their academy graduate Troy Parrott to Millwall on loan. On the contrary, their main striker Harry Kane has experienced several ankle injuries in recent years which have kept him out of the field for a long time. That’s why Deeney is considered as a potential backup for Harry Kane to cover Kane’s absence if needed.
The 32-year-old has played in Watford for 10 long years scoring 133 goals in total. But Watford’s poor run in this season confirmed their relegation. Hence, Deeney might be looking forward to making a transfer to White Hart Lane.

Also, the long-serving skipper has just one year left to complete his contract at Watford. In that case, Tottenham would prefer to bring him on loan for a year. Then, they might consider a permanent move of Deeney depending on his performance whenever he gets opportunities.
Tottenham ranked 6th in the recently concluded Premier League season. With the departure of their experienced campaigner Jan Vertonghen & contract extension of Japhet Tanganga, Spurs are renovating their squad for the next season strategically under their manager Jose Mourinho.
