Aston Villa are set to sign Boubacar Kamara from Marseille on a five -year deal after beating interest from other European clubs.
Aston Villa are looking forward to a summer rebuild. After making the loan signing of Phillipe Coutinho permanent, the West Midlands club are looking to strengthen their midfield. Steven Gerrard has identified Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara as the ideal candidate to be the anchor in the middle of the park.
Kamara, who’s contract with Marseille ends next month, said last week that he had already decided on his next club. The talented midfielder has been linked with a host of different clubs all across Europe, but it seems like Villa have won the race his signature.

Villa also beat off competition from Arsenal and Newcastle for his signature. Kamara will be the second Marseille player to join Villa in recent seasons, with Morgan Sansone joining last year.
Steven Gerrard has apparently been a key figure in convincing the Frenchman to choose Villa. It comes as no surprise as Gerrard is one of the best midfielders of his generation. Kamara is said to be signing a five-year contract with Villa that will run till 2027.
The 22-year old former France U-21 international refused to extend his contract, and now it seems like he has chosen Villa to take his career into the next level.
Villa will be hoping that the signing of Kamara can change their fortunes. The side from Birmingham finished 14th this season. Their ambitions owners are hoping to finish in a place much higher up in the coming season.
