With about a month of transfer window behind us, there is a lot of excitement and buzz surrounding the latest transfer news and rumours. As most of the clubs are gearing up for their pre-season tours, the club’s executives will be busy in the pursuit of their priority transfer targets. After a period of eager anticipation, the wait for the PSG supporters ended when the club officially announced the signing of Inter Milan centre back, Milan Skriniar.
Amidst the Kylian Mbappe saga, PSG are looking forward to beginning a new journey under the Spanish coach Luis Enrique. The likes of Lucas Hernandez, Manuel Ugarte, and Marco Asensio are some of the new faces that are going to grace the Parc des Princes.
Milan Skriniar to PSG
The 28-year-old centre-back has made his journey to the city of Paris, replacing the Spanish legend, Sergio Ramos. The Slovakian defender had a successful last campaign with Inter Milan, where the team reached the Champions League final after a hiatus of 12 years. After a 6-year stint at Inter, the centre-back did not entertain signing a new contract and left San Siro as a free agent.

Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that the 28-year-old centre-half had signed a pre-contract with the French powerhouses in January. Which was well before Inter Milan played the Champions League final.
Talks between both clubs took place during the January transfer window but they are unable to find common ground. The Slovakian national team captain will join the French champions on a four-year deal, valid till the year 2027.
Skriniar’s trophies with Inter Milan
During the 2017 summer transfer window, the versatile centre-back joined the Nerazzurri from their Italian rivals Sampdoria. For a reported fee of $21 million, making him the most expensive Slovakian of all time. During his stay in Milan, the defender played 246 matches and scored 11 goals.
The centre-back has had a successful time at San-Siro winning the club’s first Serie-A title in the best part of a decade. Moreover, Skriniar was part of the squad that won the Coppa Italia in both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
After the deal collapsed for the Slovakian to join PSG in the winter transfer window and Skriniar publicly confirmed his interest in joining the French club. Which led to Simone Inzaghi, the manager of Inter Milan stripping the defender of his captaincy. Inzaghi said “Regarding the captain’s armband, we have hierarchies. Because of what happened, Skriniar will no longer be the captain, but it was discussed quietly with the club and the boy.”
After Lionel Messi not extending his stay at the French club and with the departure of the Les Bleus captain on the cards, PSG are short of attacking options for the new season. The Ligue-1 champions hope to do more business in the coming weeks of the transfer window. With the arrival of former Champions League winner Luis Enrique, can he prove to be the catalyst in helping the French powerhouses lift their first-ever Champions League trophy?
