Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce has yet again made the headlines aside from being associated with Taylor Swifts for the last few weeks. Regardless of a stellar return from an injury and a touchdown, fans are hell bent on bracketing Taylor Swift with him.
The Chiefs tight end’s ankle injury caused them to point fingers at an unlikely individual which is Taylor Swift. Fans believe she had been Kelce’s lucky charm, and many are now mad at her due to her absence from the match.
Travis Kelce returns with TD after possible ankle injury to win vs Vikings
On Sunday’s match of Kansas City Chiefs against Minnesota Vikings, Travis Kelce faced a minor injury to his ankle during halftime.
However, as appreciable as it is, the player returned resiliently from his swift recovery and assisted the Chiefs beat the Vikings, 27-20. He came back hauling in five passes in a 74-yard, 11-play march. In close coverage, he intercepted a third-and-7 throw for 14 yards at the Kansas City 43. The Chiefs then took a 27-13 lead after Kelce, who excels at finding spots in the zone on second-and-goal from the 4, made a clean grab and sprinted across the goal line.
Kelce was spotted leaving the field with a limp and according to reports, he underwent an X-ray to his right foot afterwards. Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs 75 yards in 11 plays for the game-tying touchdown throw to Rashee Rice while Kelce observed from the sidelines during the opening possession of the third quarter.
His return and determination weren’t as surprising to his friend and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Thus, Mahomes said, “I feel like Travis has the same mindset I do”.
“If you give him a window to get back in the game, he’s going to be back in the game. Competitor, man. That’s why he’s one of the greatest, that he can battle through stuff like that.”
The quarterback further added, ” I have those moments where I’m like, ‘I’m about to get crushed,’ and I look over and ‘87’ is just running free. He’s been with me a long time. He knows how to get himself open whenever he gets an opportunity”.
NFL fans blames ‘Taylor Swift curse’ for Travis Kelce injury
Even though Taylor Swift was not present on Sunday’s Kansas City Chiefs vs Minnesota Vikings match, her consistent appearance in the two games prior to Sunday’s and off the field relationship spotlight has made her Kelce’s lucky charm.
So, it might not come to any surprise that fans did not let the tight end’s injury slide without blaming the ‘lucky charm’ or so called “Taylor Swift curse” who wasn’t at the game this time.
The labelling of Taylor Swift continued to drive through tweets with NFL fans implying that the singer should have been present at the match. They immediately began to flood X, formerly Twitter, with numerous posts alleging a Taylor Jinx as soon as Kelce fell to the ground.
Furthermore, there were also tweets from fans saying, “Taylor Swift is behind this. Someone replied, “She so happened not to be at this game,” meaning that the singer of “Out of the Woods” couldn’t possibly have had an impact on his performance.
Despite the Swift rumors, Kelce said this week that he felt “on top of the world” and didn’t think his association with her was a distraction.
