Jason gained attention for his shirtless celebration during the Chiefs-Bills playoff game. He ripped off his shirt, shouted in triumph from the luxury box at Highmark Stadium, pounded a beer, and jumped into the crowd.
Jason Kelce explained on the podcast that he was caught up in the magic of energy in the stadium and felt the need to join the shenanigans.
“The energy, the shenanigans, and I’m, like, I gotta have my shirt off at some point,” he said. “And I didn’t get to do it beforehand … and I can’t just take my shirt off in the box — like, who takes their shirt off in the box? … So I’m, like — you know what? — I’m taking my shirt off, and I’m jumping out of this box. … This is how my mind works after 40 Miller Lites.”
Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, expressed displeasure and tried to dissuade him from the shirtless celebration.
“I gave Kylie a heads-up. She said, ‘Jason, don’t you dare.’ I said, ‘I’m not asking for permission, I’m doing this,” he said. “She was already telling me to be on my best behavior because we were meeting Taylor (Swift). … I was like, ‘Kylie, the first day I met you I was blackout drunk and fell asleep at the bar.’ This is part of the charm. This is part of the Jason Kelce charm.”
Travis Kelce then revealed that despite this, Taylor Swift expressed that she absolutely loves Jason, indicating that his charm worked on the superstar.
“Well, Tay said she absolutely loves you,” he responded.
Jason Kelce, during the game, scooped up an 8-year-old girl named Ella Piazza to show Taylor Swift a homemade sign expressing love for the popstar and the team.
Taylor Swift acknowledged the gesture by waving from the box, creating a heartwarming moment for the young fan and her mother, Jessica Piazza. It seems like Swift has formed a close bond with Jason like his other family members and friends of Travis Kelce.
Travis Kelce discusses atmosphere at Bills turned disrespectful
Travis Kelce also discussed the atmosphere during the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Buffalo Bills. While he acknowledged the game was filled with heartwarming moments, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the atmosphere, pointing out disrespectful comments from Buffalo Bills fans.
“There was a lot of hate pulling up to that stadium. Understandable. The Bills, we’re coming into their house, they want to make it rowdy. Did it get a little disrespectful? 1000 percent. Did it get a little extra? 1000 percent.”
Travis revealed that certain comments were made about the families of the Chiefs players and, specifically, some inappropriate remarks were directed at Patrick Mahomes.
“I’m not gonna say, because that’s what they want. I’m not going to relay it, but some things were said about the family. Some pretty inappropriate things were said about Pat Mahomes. It was pretty whack.”
Despite the negativity, Travis Kelce conveyed that he respects the passionate fanbase and the rowdy environment created by Bills fans.
“I respect it,” he said, “But I just wanted to make sure that they knew it wasn’t mutual. I don’t hate you like you hate us, it’s all love baby.”
The Chiefs won the playoff game against the Buffalo Bills with a score of 27-24. They are set to face the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC championship game the following week in Baltimore.
