Tyler Herro Says He “Got Lucky” to Win the 3-Point Contest

Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro made an impressive debut at the NBA All-Star Weekend by winning the 3-Point Contest. Despite his stellar performance, Herro humbly attributed his victory to a bit of luck.

In the final round, Herro scored 24 points, just beating Buddy Hield, who scored 23 points. His accurate shooting—making six out of seven shots in a row—was key to his win.

After winning, he became a fan favourite, and the media rushed to hear his reaction. However, instead of being boastful, he gave a polite and humble answer after his 3-point contest win.

On the TNT podcast, he said, “I got lucky. I thought Buddy was going to run off the last five there, so it was a great competition. Buddy’s a great shooter, a bunch of great shooters that competed, so just happy to be here.”

Tyler Herro’s win makes him the fifth Miami Heat player to win the 3-Point Contest. With this, he joins Glen Rice (1995), Jason Kapono (2007), Daequan Cook (2009), and James Jones (2011).

Pat Riley reacts to Tyler Herro’s 3-point contest win

Miami Heat president Pat Riley had big praise for Tyler Herro after his amazing win in the 3-Point Contest at the NBA All-Star Weekend. Riley was there to watch it happen. The 79-year-old stood up and raised his fist to celebrate. Even Herro noticed him.

Herro told AP that the moment felt special when he saw Riley. He said, “I was obviously happy to win, but seeing Pat up there hit different. We pointed at each other, and I know he truly believes in me. That means a lot.”
