The rumors surrounding a Francis Ngannou-Tyson Fury fight have finally come true after months of negotiations. The WBC has granted special permission to the British heavyweight to participate in a boxing bout against Ngannou.
The news regarding this highly anticipated bout has been eagerly awaited, and last night it was officially announced that the negotiations between the two heavyweight mega starts have reached a successful resolution.
Tyson Fury to not be stripped of his WBC title fighting Francis Ngannou
Many boxing promotions and news portals confirmed the news yesterday. As per Ariel Helwani, Queensberry, Top Rank, and GIMIK Fight Promotions, Ngannou’s promotional banner, have reached an agreement to collaborate with Riyadh Season for hosting the event.
Excitingly, fans of The Gypsy King will be pleased to know that his championship belts will remain with him, as they will not be taken away. The WBC President, Mauricio Sulaimán, has also confirmed that he has given Fury “special permission” to participate in a non-title fight, considering that the Briton currently has no mandatory challenger lined up.

Despite Fury’s last fight taking place in December of last year against Derek Chisora, he has been actively pursuing bouts with several prominent heavyweight contenders. Regrettably, negotiations with fighters such as Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua did not materialize. As a result, Fury is now preparing himself to go up against Francis Ngannou.
“I can’t wait to get back out there under the lights. I’m looking forward to showing the world that The Gypsy King is the greatest fighter of his generation in an epic battle with another master of his craft.” Fury said.
Since joining the Professional Fighters League (PFL), The Predator has repeatedly expressed his strong desire to square off against The Gypsy King, stating that such a matchup would determine the ultimate “baddest” individual on the planet.
“I’ve been waiting to meet Tyson in the ring for the past three years. My dream was always to box. This is my opportunity to make that dream come true. And cement my position as the baddest man on the planet.” Ngannou said.
