The Boxing world thought that they had seen the last of Tyson Fury when he announced his retirement following his victory against Dillian Whyte. But the British boxer decided to return even before a year had passed and defeated Derek Chisora in a dominant fashion. Now he has his eyes set on a new opponent.
The Tyson vs Usyk fight is yet to be official but Tyson has already revealed an unexpected name for his training camp. Former Manchester United forward and current D.C. United manager Wayne Rooney is potentially going to be a sparring partner in the “Gypsy King’s next fight.
Tyson had been calling out Anthony Joshua for the longest time. But somehow the fights always fell apart. Anthony Joshua lost his last 2 fights against Usyk. Now Fury has decided to go after Usyk to make a statement as the Ukrainian fighter hasn’t tasted defeat yet.
Rooney has been a boxing fan for a very long time and can be regularly seen in boxing matches held in the UK. After the Derek Chisora match, Wayne showered Tyson with praise, “I think he’s the best we’ve seen in a long time, and I don’t think anyone will beat him.”
The 37-year-old footballer also suggested that ‘The Gypsy King” was worthy of Knighthood. Fury won and defended his title both at home and abroad. According to the former Manchester forward, Tyson is the epitome of boxing.
The current WBC champion took notice of the praise and responded appropriately, “Wayne Rooney is a proper legend. And I grew up watching him as a youngster from England and United.”
Usyk is shorter compared to Tyson, so the British fighter was looking for a smaller sparring partner. In a bombshell reveal, Fury announced Rooney as his new sparring partner.
Fans can’t wait to see the duo together.
