Tyson Fury predicts to finish Oleksandr Usyk in ‘seven rounds’ to claim undisputed heavyweight title

Tyson Fury took over the entire boxing scene with his return to fighting in 2018. Since his comeback, he fought and defeated many boxing greats and champions with relative ease, solidifying his dominance.

The Gypsy King is widely regarded as one of the best heavyweights in boxing history, maintaining an undefeated record and gearing up for what may be his most formidable test against Oleksandr Usyk on May 18, 2024.

Tyson Fury drops bold prediction on Oleksandr Usyk bout

Though Fury does not have much more to prove than he already has in his professional career, he has a chip on his shoulder as he heads into his upcoming bout. In his last appearance, he engaged in a super fight with former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou.

In that bout, no one gave Ngannou a serious chance of winning, leading to a massive disbelief as Fury was only able to edge a razor-thin victory over Francis. In the highlight of the bout, Ngannou was even able to knock ‘The Gypsy King’ down, which led almost everyone, including fighters to question Fury’s win, claiming it to be a controversial decision.

Fury recently joined the show of Charlie Parson, where he gave a bold prediction on his upcoming bout. Fury stated, “He’s only had [five] fights at heavyweight and I haven’t been that impressed. Is he good enough to beat the Gypsy King? I don’t think so, but good luck to him. If he is, I’ll shake his hand… I’ll take him out inside seven rounds.”

With more pressure than ever before, Tyson Fury looks to put on a performance of the ages, after which he would comfortably be able to sit on the pound-for-pound throne, having beat every threat presented to him.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk boxing resume comparison

As we dive deeper into Fury vs Usyk, it’s crucial to note that they have a combined total of 38 knockouts in 54 victories. While Fury was already competing at the top, Usyk dominated in the cruiserweight division before moving up to secure victories against Chazz Witherspoon and Derek Chisora. These wins earned him a shot against top heavyweight Anthony Joshua, whom he defeated in London and later repeated the feat in Saudi Arabia.

Since then, Oleksandr has been in line for a showdown with the Gypsy King. As for Fury, he exuded an aura of being unbeatable before facing Ngannou. After defeating the long-reigning champion Vladimir Klitschko, Fury took a hiatus and returned in 2018 to triumph over Deontay Wilder across three fights. He further solidified his reign by beating Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora.

This heavyweight clash has been years in the making and we are only a few months away before we see these gladiators finally put on their gloves and step in the ring. It will be one of the most anticipated heavyweight showdown in the past decade.
