Amerian flyweight fighter Erin Blanchfield beat and eventually tapped out former Cage Warriors Flyweight Champion Molly McCann at UFC 281 to snap her three-fight winning run.
At UFC 281 at Madison Square Garden, rising flyweight prospect Erin Blanchfield completely destroyed Molly McCann. Blanchfield entered as a -400 favorite and more than justified the odds with her dominance of ‘Meatball’ en way to a first-round submission finish.
‘Meatball’ has become one of the most prominent British MMA fighters after three consecutive victories, including back-to-back spinning elbow knockouts of Luana Carolina and Hannah Goldy.
As a result, she was given the opportunity to shine at UFC 281 in Madison Square Garden, New York, versus Blanchfield, one of the most promising female MMA prospects.
At only 23 years old, the American had has a 9-1 record, including victories over Kay Hansen, JJ Aldrich, and Miranda Maverick, who called out McCann after her win at UFC London in July.
Blanchfield effortlessly brought Paddy Pimblett’s training partner to the floor and swiftly established the mounted crucifix – perhaps the most dominant position in MMA – on fight night.
Blanchfield returned to the crucifix and applied more ground and pound before locking in a second kimura, forcing ‘Meatball’ to tap at 3:37 of the opening round.

After losing the fight at UFC 281, ‘Meatball’ raised up her 23-year-old opponent in an outstanding display of sportsmanship. Blanchfield remarked in her post-fight interview that the referee might have intervened earlier in the bout when she was beating McCann from the crucifix.
