Charles Oliveira losing his title may have caused many people to start questioning his legacy in MMA. Oliveira, though, once again demonstrated tonight against Beneil Dariush why he won the lightweight title and why he is deserving of reclaiming the belt.
Charles earned yet another enthralling knockout victory over Dariush in the co-main event of UFC 289 tonight in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The Brazilian fighter made it clear that he is back by breaking the Iranian fighter’s eight-fight winning run.
Charle Oliveira vs Beneil Dariush feud explained

Beneil had his final appearance in the octagon at UFC 280 when the Iranian fighter defeated Mateusz Gamrot in Abu Dhabi, ending Gamrot’s four-match winning streak. That was on the same when Oliveira lost his title and Islam Makhachev became the new lightweight champion of the UFC.
As a result, the battle between the two fighters who had opposite results on the same night was planned to kick off the year, it made for quite an interesting result to see. Dariush later held ‘Do Bronx’ responsible for getting injured and due to not taking the fight seriously.

Who will Charles Oliveira face after defeating Beneil Dariush?
Oliveira had a solid UFC career up until his heartbreaking loss to Makhachev in the UFC 280 bout. Despite Oliveira’s incredible 11-fight winning streak coming to an end, the Brazilian fighter was determined to demonstrate his skill in the ring, and today he thoroughly succeeded in doing so.
It is no surprise that Oliveira would seek revenge against the Dagestan fighter now. Charles said, “Who is the champion?” in front of the Vancouver audience during the octagon interview, seemingly indicating his rematch desire with Makhachev soon.
