UFC 296 is all set to take place on December 17th, featuring one of the most entertaining welterweights in the world. With that co-main event featuring the flyweight title fight, the pre-fight media days are getting more intense than what the fans expected.
The UFC 296 event will have two championship double headers. The welterweight title will be on the line in the main event, and with that, Dana White confirms the flyweight championship fight in the co-main event.
Who will be on the commentary for UFC 296?
The trio of Joe Rogan, Daniel Cormier, and Jon Anik will be making a comeback to the commentary team. Rogan has always been found featuring American PPV events; on the other hand, DC and Jon Anik have always been found to be consistent in the commentary box.
Recently, MMAJunkie confirmed the names of all three members of the UFC 296 commentary team. In addition to Megan Olivi, the staff will be present to support the seasoned commentator, Jon Anik. Given the immense success of Rogan’s podcast channel, viewers appreciate the comedian’s ability to bring out facts during fights, whether he’s watching on TV or attending live.
Tom Aspinall picks his winner in the UFC 296 main event.
UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall was live on the TNT Sports box office. Tom was interviewed regarding the main event fights and asked who, according to him, would be winning the bout. According to the interim heavyweight champion, who is trying to put hands on real UFC gold, Paddy Pimblett, who is up against UFC veteran and former champion Tony Fergusson, will win.
Tom said, “I think Paddy should win this fight. I think Paddy is younger; he is fresher! Tony Ferguson’s got a lot of miles on the clock, and I think that’s going to show in this fight.”
He added, “Paddy’s got a strange style to cope with, and as does Tony, to be fair! It’s hard to prepare for both guys, but I think just Paddy being younger and fresher and I believe Tony’s on like a six-fight losing streak, is it? Yeah, I’ll definitely back Paddy on this one,” via Eurosports.
For the main event, Tom thinks it will be Leon Edwards outclassing challenger Colby Covington at UFC 296. Aspinall responded, “I think Leon can take him, no problem! I think Leon is a very, very slick operator. Leon’s just slick, and he’s smart as well. He fights with his brain. That’s what someone like me likes to see.”
“I don’t want to see Leon, whom I really like; I don’t want to see him getting into a bout where he doesn’t need to use his brain and his style really well. I think he can outsmart Covington in this fight for sure,” the interim champion explained why he wants Edwards to be the champion at UFC 296.
Recently, Apsinall was involved in a heated Twitter war with heavyweight champion Jon Jones. However, after making comments on the credibility of Jones, Tom later took his words back.
