UFC Austin saw Beneil Dariush and Arman Tsarukyan face off each other in one of the highly anticipated bouts. Featuring 6 main card events the last two lightweight bouts were one of the biggest highlights of the whole card.
This is the fifth time Austin got the opportunity to host a UFC event and the athletes didn’t disappoint the viewers. The card also features former bantamweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and Israel Adesanya’s first-ever tough challenger Kelvin Gastelum. But as the night progressed it surprised the fans with the last two bouts.
UFC Austin Arman Tsarukyan beats Beneil Dariush
Arman Tsarukyan registered his 21st win after defeating the grappling artist Beneil Dariush at UFC Austin. This was the second win of the year for the victorious fighter. Tsarukyan took only 64 seconds to shut the lights down on Beneil Dariush who was coming back from the loss against Charles Olivera at UFC 289.
After this victory, Tsarukyan moved closer to his chances to fight for the title as he defeated former title challenger.
Coming from Georgia at Moody Center and registering a win against the fighter known for his toughness, is the biggest achievement to register on Tsarukyan’s resume.
As the fight started both fighters showcased their kicking art. Dariush landed a body kick and then Arman landed a knee with the following right hand. The right hand of Tsarukyan was enough to drop him down and on the ground. It took 3 clean punches to force the referee to step in and push him away from fallen Beneil as Tsarukyan emerged victorious by KO.
Jalin Turner makes easy work of Bobby Green
The second shocker of the night at UFC Austin was Bobby Green losing to Jalin Turner. This was the co-main event which almost ended controversially. The combat sports community seemed disappointed in how things turned out to be after it was evident that Turner won it clean.
The questions were raised on the referee’s job this time as Bobby Green was on the mat unconscious and the Referee wasn’t immediately active to assess the situation and intervene.
With two punch combos, Turner dropped Green on the ground at the co-main event of UFC Austin. Since Bobby gave his back to Jalin it was an easy job for him to throw the flurry of punches on his face.
Bobby was not defending himself after the hard punches and the referee took a little too much of time to intervene or assess the situation while Green received punch after punch. This was the comeback fight for Jalin Turner after he received a split decision loss against Dan Hooker.
