UFC Austin was full of finishes, and every fighter who scored a finish was rightfully rewarded with a $50k “Performance of The Night Bonus”.
UFC PPVs are blockbuster events. But this time around when the UFC headed to Texas with UFC Austin, the fight night turned into quite the event. The night was so spectacular that UFC President Dana White handed out a 50k bonus to every fighter who scored a finish.
The list comprised nine fighters: Kevin Holland, Joaquin Buckley, Gregory Rodrigues, Adrian Yanez, Jeremiah Wells, Ricardo Ramos, Cody Stamann, Phil Hawes and Roman Dolidze. Together they collected a total of $450,ooo.
The main event, which featured Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmet, earned “Fight of the Night” as both the featherweight contenders earned 50k each.
Usually, the UFC hands out three bonuses: 100k (50k each) for fight of the night, and another 50k for the Performance of the Night. But the UFC has broken out of their own conventions as they are handing out more bonuses than usual.
When asked about their generosity, Dana White refused to specify a permanent number of bonuses. he said, ” When you have cards like last weekend and tonight and fighters perform and deliver like they did tonight, it’s hard to give out three. I guess I’m in a good mood, because we’re giving everyone bonuses.”
This isn’t the first time the UFC has handed out multiple bonuses, as five fighters earned a “Performance of The Night” bonus in the recently concluded UFC 275.
