Mark Zuckerberg, the American Business Tycoon, is the cofounder of the famous social media platform Facebook and its parent organization, Meta. The Harvard dropout has true admiration for the UFC and mixed martial arts. Recently, Mark and his wife experienced a private screening of UFC Vegas 61. Though it had drawn controversy, everyone was speculating that there might be something happening between the UFC and Mark Zuckerberg.
The truth came to light last Monday when the UFC announced a collaboration with Meta to smooth out and improve the viewing experience for fans with the help of virtual reality. The UFC is currently available as a pay-per-view event on a variety of streaming platforms.
Through a press release, the UFC confirmed that from now on they will be offering live and on-demand MMA events in virtual reality through Meta’s Horizon Worlds app. With this VR technology, every fan can avail the services on their Oculus devices.
Crowley Sullivan, vice president and general manager of Fight Pass, recently discussed the latest UFC viewing upgrade:
“We are excited to offer an unprecedented level of engagement for Fight Pass subscribers and MMA fans around the world by producing a live MMA event in virtual reality.”
LFA 144: Gafurov vs. Silva, October 14, 2022, will be the first UFC event where boxing fans will have this exciting opportunity. Fans of MMA will have the best time ever because the app will give them a 180-degree view. They will also be able to interact with other fans from home while watching the events.
The Meta Horizon Worlds app will be available for download from October 23rd at the Meta Quest app store. Within the next few days, the UFC will announce upcoming VR fighting events.
