The most intriguing fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship this year was supposed to be Conor McGregor’s return bout with Michael Chandler. But five months after the announcement, Dana White finally spoke about the fight since nothing had developed.
Over two years have passed since the Irish UFC fighter’s leg was fatally fractured at UFC 264 when he faced Dustin Poirier. Following his rehabilitation, McGregor had been planning to take on Michael Chandler in the Octagon, which was declared by Dana White earlier this year.
What did Dana White say regarding the progress of Conor McGregor – Michael Chandler’s fight?
The Notorious’ return to the octagon to face Michael Chandler has MMA fans giddy with anticipation. However, given the development of the fight over the past four months, it now appears that there’s very little chance that the fight will take place, as the situation is only growing more ambiguous.
A significant fight featuring the greatest superstar on the UFC roster ought to have a fixed date, location, and fight card by this point. So, during the post-fight press conference for UFC Charlotte, Dana had to address the issue.
“I don’t know. That’s the most-asked question I’m getting right now. Obviously, the season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter airs soon, and during that season we will be working very hard to put that fight together.” Dana said.
The UFC President previously shared that McGregor’s comeback fight will be a huge spectacle that will captivate millions of MMA fans across the globe. Dana has therefore been preparing to arrange the fight grandly, in a major stadium where there will be a sizable crowd.
According to Dana, there is also a chance that the fight will take place somewhere like Dallas Texas Stadium or Madison Square Garden, and other probable locations include London and T-Mobile Arena.
🚨| Conor McGregor says he has asked Dana White if his fight with Michael Chandler could finally be a homecoming at Croke Park in Ireland but admits it’s unlikely at the moment.
