Alexa Grasso is set to fight Valentina Shevchenko at UFC fight night. The bout between the two fighters will be a rematch, as the two fought back in March 2023 with Grasso emerging as the victor and becoming the UFC flyweight champion. With his victory, Grasso dethroned the seven-time defending champion Valentina Shevchenko.
In this bout, the UFC women’s flyweight title is on the line, and Dana White has made a customized belt for the current champion Alexa Grasso to celebrate Mexican Independence Day.
Alexa Grasso gets customized belt ahead of Shevchenko bout
Grasso has received a customized belt from UFC president Dana White ahead of her bout with the former UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. The primary reason for this is the UFC fight night being held on the Mexican Independence Day, and Alexa Grasso is the only remaining UFC champion.

“This company, which is based down in Mexico, made this belt for Alexa Grasso,” White said. “This will be her championship belt. She’ll have the other one, but we’re gonna present her with this one and she’s gonna defend the title against Shevchenko on Mexican Independence Day.”
After Dana White revealed the new customized belt for Alexa Grasso one fan took to Twitter and sarcastically said “Thanks for leaking the script, so it’s confirmed Alexa will win.” “Soooo Valentina just gonna lay down for her or…?” another fan tweeted jokingly.
Is there another UFC fighter who has customized belt?
Alexa Grasso isn’t the only fighter to have received a customized belt. Another Mexican, Yair Rodriguez, also received a custom title ahead of his unification bout opposite undisputed titlist, Alexander Volkanovski, at UFC 290 in July 2023.
It was the first time the UFC did something of the sort, excluding the Baddest Motherfu***er title. Unfortunately for Yair Rodriguez, he was defeated by Alexander Volkanovski by a third-round technical knockout.
This puts quite a pressure on the current women’s flyweight champion as the only Mexican before her to receive a customized belt was knocked out cold in the third round.
Who do you think will emerge victor? Will Alexa Grasso defend her title and receive the new customized belt, or will Valentina Shevchenko regain her lost title? Let us know your predictions in the comments.
