Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, could not have started the new year in a worse way, as he was seen slapping his wife in a physical altercation while celebrating New Year’s Eve. The entire clash that took place between Dana and his wife was caught on camera and instantly posted and went viral on the internet.
Dana and his wife were spending New Year’s Eve with friends in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Saturday night. They were having a good time and relaxing in the VIP area of the nightclub until all of a sudden, things took an unexpected turn. Dana appeared to be having a wonderful time, but something he said to his wife may have sparked a brief fight that lasted about a minute.
Dana and his wife were sighted on top of the dance floor in the VIP zone, according to a video released by TMZ. The video shows Dana saying something to his wife that she did not take well, resulting in her slapping Dana. Dana smacked her back and they continued fighting in the center of the crowd until their mutual friends separated them to break up the fight.
Dana later clarified what exactly happened at that time in an interview with TMZ. He started saying the whole incident was an unfortunate event.
“My wife and I were out on Saturday night on New Year’s Eve, and unfortunately that’s what happened” said Dana.
“I’m one of the guys, you’ve heard me say for years, there’s never, ever an excuse for guy to put his hands on a woman, and now here I am on TMZ talking about it. My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years, we’ve known each other since we were 12 years old.” Dana added.

Dana White and his wife Anne White are happily married together for thirty years now and they have three kids together. Dana is more concerned about their kids as he thinks this may affect them which he does not want to happen.
“We have three kids and obviously since the video popped up, we’ve shown the kids the video. We’re more focused on our family right now. People are going to have opinions on this, and most of the people’s opinions would be right, especially in my case. You don’t put your hands on a woman ever. My wife and I love each other, we’ve been together for a very long time. We’ve known each other since we were very little, and this is just one of those unfortunate situations.” Dana explained.

Dana believes something as embarrassing as this will never happen ever again as they have a solid bond and an incident like this has never happened in the thirty-year of their marriage. So, the question inevitably comes if 30 years of peace could be broken in a split moment can it never happen again?
“I literally am making no excuses for this at all. It’s never happened before. It’s the first time that it’s ever happened, and people are going to say what they’re going to say. It is what it is, and whatever people do say is deserved. I deserve it. It happened. I don’t know why it happened.”
The UFC president also blames the incident on alcohol, claiming that they both had a lot of drinks that night and whatever occurred in the brief time was a consequence of the alcohol they consumed. Mr.White says that they both apologized to each other, explained the whole incident to their kids and everything is just fine now between them.
“My wife and I have apologized to each other. We’ve apologized to our kids, and this is one of those things where everybody is going to chime in. I could care less what anybody else thinks about this. Right now what we’re more concerned about are our kids and taking care of our family. That was the beginning of it and the end of it. We’re still on vacation. We’re obviously best friends, she’s my wife and we had too much to drink, and whatever happened that night happened. That was it and it was done.”
Anne White, in a separate interview with TMZ, backed up his husband, claiming it was an impact of alcohol that took over both of them and they had little control over what they did that night.
“To say this is out of character for him is an understatement — nothing like this has ever happened before. Unfortunately, we were both drinking too much on New Year’s Eve and things got out of control, on both sides. We’ve talked this through as a family and apologized to each other. I just hope people will respect our privacy for the sake of our kids.”
But, the question remains why being a veteran of not touching or hitting women ended up doing it in public, is it just an accident that took place in public, or did they engage in fighting for quite some time in silence as this is not the first time they were drunk.
Law enforcement was not involved in the altercation, and UFC has yet to issue an official statement about the incident.
