Many observers speculate Christian Pulisic’s quick feet earned him a move from the Bundesliga to one of the biggest clubs in England, Chelsea. He is also known to be hardworking, as his commitment to the club has never really been questioned. He is pacey, tricky, and has an eye for goal. The American international seems to have it all.
For all his good qualities, Pulisic’s time at Chelsea has been a disaster. He has been a victim of annoying injuries, lack of form, and quality game time, and has played under six managers. The latter may not seem like an issue, but a lack of consistency in management could affect a player as well.
With him being mooted to make a move away from Chelsea this summer, clubs have been lining up to sign the USMNT captain. AC Milan looks to be leading the race for Pulisic and may announce his signing in a few days if things go well.
Is Christian Pulisic to AC Milan Confirmed?
While there is no official announcement from both club, AC Milan is speculated to be working behind the scenes to sign Pulisic in time for him to enjoy a pre-season with the club. AC Milan does not look like the only club interested in the American. A few weeks ago, French club Lyon reportedly contacted Chelsea over the signing of their star man.
David Ornstein reported on Sunday that Lyon returned with a second offer of €21 million after seeing their first bid rejected. However, Pulisic favors a move to AC Milan and has informed Chelsea of his decision, urging them to prioritize a move to AC Milan over other clubs.
It is understandable why the player wants a move to Italy instead of France. In Milan, Pulisic will play alongside former Chelsea teammates Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, whose signing to AC Milan was completed last week.
Famous Italian sports journalist Romano has claimed that Milan returned with a second bid worth €22 million, which leaves them in an excellent position to land their man this summer.
So while an official confirmation is not yet available, AC Milan is likely the next destination for Christian Pulisic.
Christian Pulisic’s 5-year Stint at Chelsea
The curtains are closing on Pulisic’s time at Chelsea. While things have not gone very smoothly with the London club, Pulisic has won some critical trophies at Chelsea, including that famous win over Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final.
The USMNT captain also lifted a UEFA Super Cup the following season, followed by a World Club Cup win the same year, bringing his tally to three trophies. Chelsea have gone under the radar since then. Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel was sacked, and his replacement Graham Potter didn’t manage to complete a full season before being shown the door.
