Alex Morgan along with the USWNT players will be united with the Canadian women’s soccer team in protest of the ban enforced on trans athletes in Texas and Florida.
The USWNT team has played their first game of the SheBelieves cup against the Canada women’s team and pulled off a brilliant 2-0 victory as Mallory Swanson scored both goals.

However, the USWNT and Canadian players joined hand in hand as they supported the trans players with a vision to pay equal facilities over anyone irrespective of their gender.
The players wore purple prior to the kick-off and the two sets of players were seen coming up with shoulders to shoulders as a unity to offer support after Alex Morgan declared earlier that they could boycott playing in the two states where trans athletes are banned from playing with the women.

Canadian women’s team came up with a statement and was solidified by the USWNT players led by their superstar Alex Morgan.
“Tonight, our players will be wearing purple as a symbol of protest. Purple has historically been associated with efforts to achieve gender equality.”- the statement began.
“Considering the current circumstances, our players will continue to wear purple until our association has standards in place that ensure equal treatment and opportunity.”

Alex Morgan has been vocal in establishing human rights as the former Ballon d’Or winner believed everyone should be offered the same facilities as discrimination has no part to play in sports.
“Although we are now on the other side of this fight and can focus on our play on the field, our counterparts in Canada and elsewhere are experiencing the same pervasive misogyny and unequal treatment that we faced,” the statement from USWNT read.
Thank you to the @USWNT @USWNTPlayers for standing with us, the ones who’ve fought this fight before. Stronger together. Thank you 🙏🏼 pic.twitter.com/Wnjjg1M1dn

“We stand with all women’s footballers in calling attention to their collective fight, but also call on everyone to join and support the fight to eradicate ALL inequality and discrimination that exists in our sport.”
