“Very happy there”: Atletico Madrid ace Antoine Griezmann breaks silence on rumored PSG transfer

French soccer superstar Antoine Griezmann has openly dismissed speculations of his leaving Spanish giant Atletico Madrid amid rumored interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 32-year-old French attacker has struggled with form ever since he returned to Atletico Madrid from FC Barcelona. However, he is still one of the biggest soccer stars in the world, showing outstanding form for the French National Team in the 2022 World Cup.

In recent times, rumors have emerged surrounding PSG activating Antoine Griezmann’s release clause in order to reinforce their attacking lineup as they prepare to sell superstar Kylian Mbappe. However, Griezmann denied him joining Les Parisiens in a recent interview.

Why Antoine Griezmann rejected PSG move?

According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to activate Griezmann’s buy-out clause, which is believed to be around €25 million. They are seeing him as a potential attacker that could fill in the void of Kylian Mbappe, as they would rather cash out on the player with the highest market value rather than lose him for free next season.

The “little prince”, however, prefers to remain with his current employers, and claims that he is happy in the Spanish capital. In a recent interview with Telefoot, Antoine Griezmann said the following:

“I want to stay at Atletico. I am very happy and so is my family; I want to win La Liga and try to do something special in the Champions League. And I am a person who likes to score, who likes to make others play. That’s my way of thinking. The group is always more important than just myself and it will always be that way. That’s what I try to teach my children”.

He also commemorated his background during the interview: “I come from a good school. Real and Atletico taught me well: you have to play for your teammates. Without them, you’re nothing, you’re nobody. If I’m at this level, it’s thanks to them.”

PSG are also eyeing Rodrygo

It’s no secret now that Real Madrid want Kylian Mbappe, and it looks like PSG are now interested in another Real Madrid player who could potentially be included in the deal!

MARCA reports that Real Madrid will not make a first offer for Kylian Mbappe until PSG announces how much they want for the young forward. This week, Mbappe gave hints to PSG that he would not be renewing his current contract, which is set to expire in 2024. To prevent Mbappe from signing with another club this summer, Los Blancos are prepared to spend up to €200 million on a new player.

The Parisians would be willing to take a player in addition to cash if Real Madrid made an offer for Mbappe, and Rodrygo would be their top choice.
