The wrestling world is still reeling from CM Punk’s shocking departure from AEW after All In. He was let go due to multiple instances of backstage misconduct, which had become a recurring issue for the Straight Edge Superstar. Tony Khan addressed his firing on the Collision episode just before All Out, an event taking place in CM Punk’s hometown of Chicago.
The catalyst for Punk’s backstage altercation was an incident with Jack Perry, formerly known as Jungle Boy, during a match on the pre-show. Many people have pointed the finger at Jack Perry for contributing to CM Punk’s decision to distance himself from professional wrestling.
Wrestling insider blames Jack Perry for CM Punk situation
CM Punk’s situation in AEW has consistently been fraught with tension since his backstage altercation with The Elite, during which it appears that punches were exchanged and security had to be called in to defuse the situation. Following an extended absence from the company, Tony Khan brought him back to television, making AEW Collision his platform while ensuring that The Elite and CM Punk remained as far apart as possible.
There have been several incidents during his tenure in All Elite Wrestling. He was involved in an altercation with William Regal backstage, which was just one of many of his backstage shenanigans. He has faced significant criticism and is widely regarded as a major problem for locker room morale. However, it’s worth noting that people have pointed out that every incident involving the Second City Saint has been a reaction to actions taken by the other party.
Jack Perry, in this case, initiated the confrontation with CM Punk, and rightly, he has been blamed for the reason we haven’t seen the Straight Edge Superstar in the squared circle. While Punk was suspended, he is expected to make a gradual return to AEW programming. According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider Elite, he is no longer under an indefinite suspension, and the company is taking its time to ensure a careful reintegration.
CM Punk’s next show appearance confirmed
The Second City Saint’s future has been wildly speculated by the rumor mill. He has returned to commentary in various Bellator events and has been giving interviews too. People are eager for Punk to return to WWE and the stage is set for the Survivor Series in November in his hometown of Chicago. He has not ruled out a move to the Stamford-based company and was also asked about a return at either Survivor Series or Royal Rumble.
For now, his next show appearance is confirmed, and he will be a special guest at APFC’s event on November 19th. Many other special guests, such as Nate Diaz and Criss Angel, have been advertised, and the event is absolutely packed with more than 15 fights. While CM Punk has been making guest appearances for now, it would be unwise to rule out a return to WWE, as the wrestling landscape has changed and any wrestler could potentially join any promotion due to increased competition.
Will CM Punk make his long-awaited return at Royal Rumble or Survivor Series? Feel free to discuss in the comments.
