Victor Wembanyama the 7-foot-4 giant, is really living up to the hype. San Antonio Spurs fans are feeling delighted and blessed to watch him play and dominate the game. They believe him to be a miracle of a player who is going to evolve into one of the best players in the NBA.
Wemby can do almost anything. He can shoot, score, dunk, protect the rim and block shots. He is almost unguardable which makes him a threat to the entire league. His dunks are jaw dropping and leave his opponents in disbelief, as he did recently with Thomas Bryant.
Wemby’s slam leaves Thomas Bryant in shock
On Friday night preseason fixture, the San Antonio Spurs played the Miami Heat. In the game Spurs star rookie Victor Wembanyama left LeBron’s ex-teammate Thomas Bryant stunned by one of his sensational dunks.
It was the third quarter when Wembanyama jumped straight up from outside the restricted area, reached over Heat center Thomas Bryant, and threw it down with his left. Thomas’ reaction to the dunk was priceless. He stared at the Miami bench in shock while the crowd went wild. It was clear that he could not believe what just happened. He was neither mad nor embarrassed, but left in an awe-struck silence by Wemby’s awesome dunk.
Victor Wembanyama had previously been called an alien by LeBron James because of his unique abilities. LeBron had expressed his love for Wemby’s game saying, ”We’re labeling like this unicorn thing everybody’s been a unicorn over the last few years.”
“But he’s more like an alien no one has seen anyone as tall as he is but as fluid and as graceful as he is on the floor.”, LeBron said.
Victor loved how King James compared him with an Extraterrestrial. Wemby said, “First of all, I’m really glad he said that because I didn’t like to be called a unicorn.”, as a reference to what LeBron called him back in April.
Wembanyama said, “I like it because it’s just something not from this world. I like being called an alien, yeah. It’s really what I’m working to be—something unique and original.”
Wembanyama is compared to the height of a giraffe
Glen “Big Baby” Davis the former NBA player had some words for Victor Wembanyama. He was at a promotional event for the upcoming Showtime show “Goliath” about Wilt Chamberlain on Thursday in Las Vegas. The show stars Davis’ former Boston Celtics teammate, Kevin Garnett.
At the event, Davis talked about Wembanyama with NBA reporter Ben Golliver. He said, “The length I probably would have struggled with, but the body? Tomato chest. They soft. That boy looked like a little baby Bambi out there the other night, a little baby giraffe… I don’t think he could handle all this pain.”
Although Wemabanyama is proving himself to be a clear fan favorite, there are some people like Glen Davis who have criticized him for his slim and lanky frame and for being physically weaker than many players. Still, Wemby has a lot of potential and bulking up or not is completely his and his camp’s decision and should be respected.
