Vince McMahon once described WWE’s primary offering as “We make movies” in a 1999 film. Now, it appears that the former WWE Chairman, facing controversy, is preparing to venture into the cinema industry by reportedly establishing a new entertainment company and has started to recruit several former WWE executives.
Vince McMahon stepped down from all his roles at TKO, including being executive chairman, after Janel Grant sued him with serious sexual accusations. While he may be controversial in the wrestling world, his Netflix documentary revealed his laser-like focus on financial success, even if it involves making controversial storylines. Now, he is determined to use his storyline skills in movies.
According to PWInsider.com, Vince McMahon is starting a new “entertainment hub company” to make movies and TV shows. This company won’t be like WWE; it will focus on both fictional and real projects.
Brad Blum, the former COO of WWE, and Kristen Prouty, who assisted in bringing Logan Paul to WWE, join him. The new company will be based in Los Angeles and won’t compete with WWE or TKO Group Holdings.
‘Ring Boy’ abuse allegations target Vince McMahon and his wife
Vince McMahon is facing a new lawsuit for allegedly ignoring abuse claims made by former WWE “Ring Boys.” The lawsuit, filed in Baltimore County, also names Linda McMahon, WWE, and TKO Group. It claims that Melvin Phillips Jr, a WWE ring crew chief, hired boys as young as 12 to help at shows but then abused them after promising event access.
Greg Gutzler, from the law firm DiCello Levitt, stated, “Thanks to the bravery of our clients, we finally have a chance to hold accountable those who allowed and enabled the open, rampant sexual abuse of these young boys.” The FBI identified at least 10 victims, but the firm believes others may still be silent.
