Vinicius Junior Injury Update: Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti sheds light on Vini Jr’s condition

In a recent match against Celta Vigo Real Madrid’s left winger Vinicius Junior sustained a hamstring injury forcing him to miss the game. Real Madrid faced Celta Vigo on Saturday in La Liga round 3 where they ended up winning 1-0 with a contribution from their new signing Jude Bellingham, who scored a beautiful goal in the 81st minute confirming his club’s victory.

The victory came at a price as one of their most important players, Vinicius Junior got injured and could not carry on. He was substituted after playing for only 18 minutes. Madrid’s frontline is already weak enough since their main striker Karim Benzema bid his farewell to the club and Vinicius’ injury will likely create even more problems.

Vinicius Junior’s injury update

The 23-year-old was seen limping and rubbing his hamstring in the 13th minute which raised concerns among the fans and the team’s manager. Vinicius decided to continue playing but could not perform well. In the 18th minute, he fell to the ground and asked Carlo Ancelotti to substitute him. Joselu came on to replace him and Vinicius was taken to the bench where the medics examined the extent of his injury.

Due to serious injuries, Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao are already out for the season and the club probably cannot afford to lose Vinicius as well. Later, Carlo Ancelotti told the press that Vinicius Junior’s injury was not that serious,

“Vinicius has had some muscle discomfort in his leg. It wasn’t a very serious thing. He tried to play but it was bothering him and we preferred to sub him.”

When will Vini Jr. return?

Since the injury is not very serious it is likely that he will be back on the field in only a few weeks. Ancelotti believes that Vinicius Junior will regain his form in no time and will be able to return after the international break. This news should bring some ease to the team, as losing Vinicius could put their club at a great disadvantage.

With Vini’s issue, Real Madrid’s injury woes continue to grow. Veteran goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and defender Eder Militao are already out for the season but other important players like Dani Ceballos, Arda Guler, and Ferland Mendy will also miss the next few games.

Carlo Ancelotti is confident in his squad and refused to sign any more players as he believes the team is strong and complete, “It is a complete squad. If we are able to win without Courtois, Militao, Karim, Vinicius, it means that the squad is well put together. They have done well.”
