Klay Thompson was a key player with Stephen Curry, and now that he’s joined the Mavericks, the Warriors are missing an important player. The team is having a difficult time finding someone to help Steph Curry, and with the offseason almost over, they still don’t have a worthy second player. The Warriors’ general manager, Mike Dunleavy Jr., is worried about this.
Mike recently addressed the media about the team’s roster after Klay Thompson’s departure. He emphasized the lack of a clear second option but mentioned that players like Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, and Andrew Wiggins could rise to the occasion.
He said, “The positive of that is that is a little bit unknown and so going out every night if you’re an opponent you say ‘Who do you have to stop besides Steph Curry?’ The good news is, maybe they don’t know either.”
Then, he added, “I think for us, whether it’s Wiggs, JK, or Brandin who can score the ball, I think we have a lot of ways to do it. Some nights it’s going to be different guys. But as I alluded to earlier, I think a little bit with the uncertainty is exciting, in the sense of ‘We got some things to find out’.”
The Warriors’ GM made it clear that Stephen Curry can’t carry the whole team alone. He clarified that finding the right player to support Curry is currently a critical challenge for the franchise.
Stephen Curry is the Warriors’ only hope now
Stephen Curry is a star player for the Golden State Warriors. He scores 24.8 points, makes 6.4 assists, and grabs 4.7 rebounds each game. Curry is famous for his amazing shooting, hitting 42.6% of his three-point shots.
The Warriors ‘ attack has become nearly impossible to stop because he can spread the floor and open up lanes for teammates to drive. As Stephen Curry gets older, the team needs to find a good backup to help him.
