The title unification bout in boxing’s lightweight division is upon us! The undefeated fighters George Kambosos Jr. and Devin Haney are set to face each other for all the marbles in the 135-pound division! The fight will be contested in Melbourne, Australia on June 5th, 2022!
Australia is home turf for George Kambosos Jr. and he will be the crowd favorite during the fight! The world got a glimpse of that during Devin’s open workout session in Melbourne. The crowd showed hostility towards the American fighter and booed his every move!
Here is the video footage of Devin “The Dream” Haney’s open workout:
Devin Haney is only 23 years old, but he is already a champion. He holds the WBC lightweight championship belt and is the youngest person ever to do so! Haney has been fighting professionally since the age of 17! Ferocious George Kambosos Jr. will be Devin Haney’s toughest opponent yet.
On June 5th, one of the promising young fighters will lose their undefeated streak. But there are re-match clauses in place if the American does manage to defeat the fighter from down under!
Devin won the WBC lightweight strap after the former champion was promoted to become a franchise champion. Prior to that, “The Dream” was the interim champion for the WBC! But Haney has a very good shot at immortality on the 5th of June, 2022! If he can defeat Ferocious George, he will become the youngest ever unified lightweight champion in boxing history!
The rivalry between Kambosos and Haney heated up during an interview recently:
