William Scott Goldberg, better known as Goldberg, was spotted on Sunday at the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. His appearance was a surprise for the fans, showcasing that the 56-year-old still possesses that drive outside the ring.
Speculations had circulated on whether the wrestler would retire from wrestling altogether. The WWE Hall of Famer and WCW legend was featured in a clip shared on social media, where he attacked a Buccaneers fan wearing a Tom Brady jersey with a spear.
Goldberg spears the hell out of a Buccaneers fan
Goldberg, a WWE Hall of Famer, is an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons, as he played for the Falcons between 1992 and 1995 before pursuing his career in the wrestling industry. The superstar made a surprise appearance at the Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game on Sunday and after he got in the field and hit a fan with his finishing move the spear.
A couple of months back the athlete resurfaced in News headlines for his controversial comments about the NFL and Super Bowl. Even before joining the NFL, he played for the University of Georgia as a starting defensive lineman. Goldberg was always the heavy lifter, and that was way before his wrestling career. The superstar participated in a total of 14 games and made one start in his four years in the NFL, all of which were with the Atlanta Falcons.
The 56-year-old wrestling icon was also awarded the Atlanta Falcons title championship for his efforts at delivering his finisher. After a successful delivery of his move, the superstar takes the mike and pans toward the camera to say ‘Who’s Next’, showing his showmanship is just as deadly as it always has been. Goldberg moves are always dangerous as he ended Bret Hart’s career.
Goldberg’s potential future with AEW
Goldberg, a legendary figure in the wrestling industry, known for his finishing move the Jackhammer and spear. He has a streak of going more than 200 matches unbeaten. The superstar has created a legacy that will continue down the line of history. Goldberg’s last match was in Saudi Arabia on February 2022 at Elimination Chamber.
The superstar faced the leader of ‘The Bloodline’ Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship match. Unfortunately he lost to The Tribal Chief just about six weeks before Reigns beat “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 to become the undisputed WWE universal champion.
Goldberg has been a free agent since his contract with WWE expired. During an interview with Fightful’s paywall, Sean Sapp revealed his take on AEW signing Goldberg.
“The signing is not Goldberg, although I can tell you that there have been talks, they have definitely had some conversations. I mean everyone’s asking about Will Ospreay and stuff. I can tell you this. Last year AEW came to terms with Chris Jericho. This year came to terms with Kenny Omega, Hangman Page and the Young Bucks. If Ospreay lands there, well guess who else Barry Bloom reps? Goldberg.”
