Victor Wembanyama who is 7 feet 4 inches tall, showed NBA fans that he can ball, by his amazing debut. Victor Wembanyama aka Wemby displayed a brilliant performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder in his preseason debut.

Wemby used his height to his advantage and not only scored well but also played great defense. He flexed on Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren after scoring and showed exactly why he was selected first overall in the 2023 NBA Draft

Victor Wembanyama flattens Chet Holmgren

Victor Wembanyama, the 19-year-old forward scored 20 points in just 19 minutes, adding five rebounds and two steals. The 7’3″ French giant shot 8-13 from the field, including a respectable 2-5 from behind the arc. He completely dominated the game and won hearts even though San Antonio Spurs, his team, lost in a close game to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Thunder forward Chet Holmgren also made his preseason debut, finishing with 21 points and 9 rebounds in his 16 minutes on the floor while hitting seven of his ten field goals.

During one of his plays, Wemby flattened Chet Holmgreen. He drove to the basket, head-butted Holmgreen and scored. He then flexed on Chet. Wembanyama showed his eagerness to play well from the moment he stepped on the court. He revealed that he was so excited about the game that he had not been able to sleep the night before. Still, he exploded with energy and played great.

Wembanyama had made his NBA Summer League debut in Las Vegas for the San Antonio Spurs. He didn’t perform up to the mark but still he didn’t lose hope of performing better in the future. In an interview Wembanyama said “A special moment. It’s really special to wear that jersey for the first time, it’s really an honor. Overall, I’m glad we won this game.”

“Honestly, I didn’t really know what I was doing on the court tonight but I’m trying to learn for the next games. The important thing is to be ready for the season.”

Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren will be a fun rivalry to watch out for this season. Both are tall and have a similar frame.

Wembanyama said that he felt like Chet hurt the Spurs in the first quarter but the future games against the Thunder will be fun and interesting. When asked whether he and Chet had any relationship at all, Wemby simply said “No.” Fans will be eagerly waiting for the next face-off between Wemby and Chet.
