David Benavidez defeated Caleb Plant in their highly anticipated grudge match. The leadup to this clash for the ages was insane with both fighters trash-talking each other to oblivion yet after the fight, Benavidez only showed Caleb respect and compassion.
Former WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez fought former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant on March 25th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The Mexican Monster had defeated ‘Sweethands’ by scores of 115-113, 116-112, and 117-111.

What did David Benavidez say to Caleb Plant after the fight?
Benavidez, who engaged in a lot of trash talk with his most recent ring opponent in the buildup to the battle, shared his genuine feelings about Plant after the match. The unbeaten boxer shared his thoughts on the former IBF super middleweight champion after winning his 27th professional career fight in the main event of the Showtime Pay-Per-View.
“I don’t wanna hold no grudges against nobody. I’ll only do that [if] we’re building a fight. But after that, there’s no need. I’ve never been that type of guy. So, I have nothing [but] respect for Caleb Plant. I’m happy he gets to go home to his family safe.” said David.

Benavidez considering himself one of the top three boxers in the world at the moment, thinks that to create hype for the fight it was necessary to do all the trash talk he did to Plant. According to the 26-year-old boxer, all he needed was a super middleweight fight which he got against Plant to show and prove his boxing prowess.
However, the two-time WBC super middleweight champion also expressed why all trash-talking was necessary for the fight,
“I just told him, you know, man to man, I’m sorry for all the trash talk that we [did]. We went at each other. We talked a lotta sh!t to each other. A lot of it, I’m not gonna say it wasn’t necessary, because it was necessary, because this fight was huge. You know, it was a huge fight. And sometimes that’s what you need to bring the best out of two men.”
