Liverpool FC are having a strong start this season, securing a position in the top 4 of the league table. The Premier League winners from the 2019-20 season have experienced just one controversial defeat so far, against Tottenhat Hotspur.
Jurgen Klopp’s team saw two of their key players leave for the Saudi Pro League this summer, and it appears they might lose another star to the same destination. Consequently, the Reds are actively looking for a replacement target.
Leroy Sane emerges as key target for Liverpool’s attack
The Reds have strengthened their squad this summer with notable signings like Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Dominic Szcolobai. They are now in the process of preparing a list of potential players to sign next summer to fill the void of a potential departure.
The priority list includes Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane as a top choice, serving as a like-to-like replacement for their talented Egyptian winger Mohammad Salah, who is expected to leave Merseyside next summer due to significant interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
It is reported that Jurgen Klopp has identified the German international winger Sane as a primary target in the transfer list. This list also includes another Premier League rival, Fulham’s Joao Palinhna, as they aim to reinforce the squad.
Leroy Sane joined Bayern Munich in 2020 from Manchester City and is contracted with the Germans until 2025, with two seasons remaining on his contract. Liverpool are prepared to surpass their club’s previous transfer fee record of £80 million, which they spent on Darvin Nunez from Benfica.
In his four seasons with the Bundesliga Champions, the 27-year-old has been a key player in the first eleven for the Bavarians. This season, he has started every single game for Thomas Tuchel in all competitions and has found the back of the net 7 times.
Liverpool turned down massive bid for Salah
Liverpool’s Egyptian international, Mohamed Salah, aged 31, is a prolific goal scorer for the Reds. He attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad, who had previously made a lucrative $185 million bid offer. However, the Reds turned down the offer and successfully convinced Salah to stay.
However, it is likely that next summer, Saudi clubs will make another attempt to sign the winger. Despite Salah being under contract at Anfield until 2025, following his three-year extension in 2022, he could potentially leave next summer. The Liverpool winger continues to be a top target for clubs in the Middle East.
