PBC, also known as Premier Boxing Champions, is all set to secure a new broadcasting service to showcase its boxing action worldwide. Various broadcasters have played a key role in bringing PBC to the airwaves, fostering connections with the global boxing community.
Currently managed by Al Haymon, he has garnered considerable praise for his contributions to the ongoing boxing series. Promoters like Eddie Hearn even once mentioned that switching from one of the biggest fighters to PBC would have a big impact on his revenue.
How will PBC’s Amazon Prime deal affect the boxing world?
PBC announced a multi-year broadcasting deal with Amazon Prime Video this Thursday. Streaming of the events will commence in March next year, featuring at least 14 events exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. These fights will only be accessible to subscribers, requiring fans to pay for a membership or subscription to enjoy their favorite matches, as reported by ESPN.
While announcing the grand deal, Marie Donoghue said, “We are thrilled to join with Premier Boxing Champions to bring the best boxers in the world to Prime Video and to give more fans than ever the chance to experience these must-see events.”
This deal can also be expanded, as per Marie, Vice President of Global Sports Video at Amazon. These PPV shows will go on air for at least a two-hour window for the preliminary fights and will be available on satellite and cable with the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video.
Gervonta Davis to reportedly headline PBC’s first Amazon Prime Video
After the fight against Ryan Garcia on April 22nd, Gervonta Davis can be seen in the boxing ring in March for PBC boxing. The boxer grabbed $1 million for his last fight and won dominantly. It is expected that Davis will be the headline of the March event. PBC will be taking on all the responsibilities of promoting the event.
Last time, Canelo Alvarez and Jemell Charlo also featured in PBC boxing, which was also the first fight for Canelo in the Premier Boxing Champions Series event after he signed the deal with Al Haymon. It is expected that Alvarez will feature in the May 4 event, and then he will be competing in September. It will be on the occasion of Mexican Independence Day weekend.
