Belal Muhammad is an American professional Mixed Martial Artist who competes in UFC’s welterweight division. Having a strong wrestling background, the fighter flourished more in the octagon with his heavy strikes and grappling prowess.
Let’s take a moment to find out more about his family background, ethnicity, parents, wife, and kids.
What ethnicity is Belal Muhammad?
The MMA was born on July 9, 1988, in Chicago, Illinois but he has Palestinian roots. His parents Abdullah Muhammad and Maha Muhammad were Palestinian immigrants who raised Belal in the United States.
In every fight, Belal carries the flag of Palestine to show his solidarity and respect for his country and the people of his community who are in great distress due to Israeli oppression.
Who are his family?
Belal has three brothers and one younger sister; all from the same parents Abdullah and Maha Muhammad. And when it comes to his romantic life, very little information is available on that. As per his religion, the UFC pro seems to have cultivated the rules and regulations of a devoted Muslim within him.
Why does he go by the nickname “Remember the Name”?
The origin of his nickname comes from his desire to be remembered among people for his unique fighting style and the ferocious bouts he had displayed over the years.
When the welterweight was asked about the reasons behind selecting such a nickname, he said, “You have some guys who always have some stupid nicknames like “crazy horse” or something dumb. I didn’t want to come up with one of those. I wanted something real. I want to be remembered, I want people to remember the name”.
Belal started his UFC journey in 2016 and in his debut match, he locked horns with Alan Jouban. Although ‘Remember the Name’ couldn’t win that fight, he was awarded Fight of the Night honors for his superb performance. Throughout the years, he has slowly risen to become one of the biggest names in the 170-pound division.
