“I tried to keep pushing past the pain for as long as I could until it became too much. Luckily doctors caught me when they did. I’ll be here so in the mean time, please enjoy wrestling!”
The former AEW World Champion, last made his appearance a couple of days before he a was rushed to hospital, during the AEW Dynamite event on Wednesday. Kenny and Chris Jericho engaged in a battle of words with Ricky Starks and Big Bill, current AEW World Tag Team Champions.
The four men used their verbal skills instead of fists to outperform one another, after a while Ricky Starks and Big Bill relented by giving them a title shot match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The match was scheduled on December 30 in Long Island, NY, but now it’s unclear what the future plans of action will be, as Omega is out of action.
Kenny Omega recovery timeline
This is not the first time Omega has been to the hospital. Kenny took a medical break from November 2021 to August 2022, following AEW Full Gear he suffered from multiple injuries so he underwent a number of surgeries to cure himself of the pain.
According to the National Health Service(NHS): ‘Diverticular disease and diverticulitis are conditions that affect the large intestine (bowel), causing tummy (abdominal) pain and other symptoms. They’re caused by small bulges or pouches in the walls of the intestine called diverticula.’
The 40-year-old wrestler never shared any details on his illness, it was Sean Ross Sapp who posted on Twitter/X addressing Omega and explaining his situation.
The post read, “We’re told Kenny had been ill throughout the last week, even ahead of his match with Ethan Page. He still did the match and the promos, and sought medical attention after, where he was hospitalized and diagnosed with diverticulitis. Get well soon to Kenny.”
Fans have been to social media, wishing Omega a quick recovery and are showing him their support during his difficult time.
