What is the Jayson Tatum Foundation receiving $1million to help low-income, single-parent families?

Jayson Tatum has established himself as a trailblazer in his relatively short career so far. Not only he gets people off the seat with his on-court robustness, but he has also garnered praise for his off court altruism.

Coming from a family of hoopers, Jayson Tatum identified the need to help the community through his game from an early age. After his jump to the NBA, the 5-time All-Star wasted no time in doing so.

Jayson Tatum Foundation: What is it and its mission?

Jayson Tatum volunteered in multiple local organizations in his hometown, St. Louis, Missouri which inspired him to give back to the society and start his own nonprofit organization. He set up the Jayson Tatum Foundation in 2017, the same year he was drafted.

The aim of the foundation is to motivate children and teenagers and make an impact on them through education, athletics, and mentorship. As per the website their goal is to “Inspire. Uplift. Empower.”

According to reports, the organization takes part in helping and donating other agencies within the St. Louis community and organize charity events. They provide bags, books, school supplies, gloves, scarves, hats and other necessary items to the children and teens.

The basketball camp encourages children to take part in sports activities whereas in the leadership camp they get to meet their idols and heroes. Jayson Tatum himself has been a guest speaker. The idea behind this leadership camp is to influence the young minds to make a positive development in them and help them shape their future.

The foundation also focuses on mentoring them, giving them educational counseling so that they can have a promising future irrespective of the background they belong to.

SoFi donates $1M to Jayson Tatum Foundation to help buy homes

The five times NBA All-Star has decided to buy homes for the needy in his hometown. The finance company SoFi has partnered with the organization and made a multi-year commitment of more than $1 million donation to help the foundation reach its goal.

The money will be used to help the less fortunate, single-parent families who want to buy a house with a down payment.

Speaking about the partnership, the Celtics star said, “Me and my mom, we didn’t know about investments or savings accounts when we were growing up. But obviously when I got to the NBA and started to make money, we had to ask questions and learn about things. And it was always important for me, even when I was younger. I just knew I wanted to give back and help people that looked like me and grew up like me.”

The Celtics forward has a beautiful vision in his mind and hopefully he will be able to fulfil his dream and help the home-buyers through his charity foundation.
