During his tenure as the US manager, the team achieved significant milestones, including winning two Confederation Cups and reaching the Round of 16 in the FIFA World Cup 2022, where they were defeated by the Netherlands.
Although their World Cup journey ended in the Round of 16, it was considered a success for the team, which was in a developmental phase and gained valuable experience. Berhalter, as the manager, received a substantial sum of $2.291 million, including incentives.

Following the release of data from the USSF’s 990 tax form, the public learned about the salaries of both Vlatko Andonovski and Gregg Berhalter. Berhalter earned a total of $2.291 million, including incentives, while Andonovski, the USWNT coach, earned 73% less than the USMT coach. The data also revealed that Berhalter’s bonuses were double the base salary of the women’s coach.
Based on the data, the women’s national team coach Valtko Andonovski had the base salary of $396,089. He also received a $50,000 bonus for leading the USWNT to third place in the Tokyo Olympics. Even with that, the head of the women’s national team earned a total of $446,495 in 2022 which is only the 27% as much as the Men’s coach Gregg Berhalter made.
The USWNT currently holds the No. 1 position in the FIFA Ranking, while the USMNT is ranked 13th. The significant gap between the two teams’ rankings has prompted various perspectives on the substantial salary difference between their coaches.
