Taylor Swift has been embraced by the NFL world and football fans ever since she started dating Chiefs TE Travis Kelce. However, while there were supporters, the Karma singer also faced a lot of backlash for supporting her boyfriend.
ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith couldn’t tolerate this hatred towards the couple anymore and finally called haters out from Vegas on Friday.
Furious Stephen A Smith blasts Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift haters
Stephen A. Smith expressed his frustration during a conversation with The Athletic. He criticized the negative attention directed towards Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship.
Smith questioned the priorities of those criticizing the couple, implying they should focus on their own lives instead of fixating on trivial aspects of Kelce and Swift’s relationship.
“I’m gonna say this because nobody would say this– When are people going to get a life?”I mean, Y’all ain’t getting none? Y’all ain’t getting loose?”
Smith wondered aloud if the haters had fulfilling relationships of their own.
“Y’all don’t have a girlfriend or boyfriend? I mean what the hell is going on?”
The analyst emphasized the absurdity of scrutinizing mundane actions like a kiss.
“We are literally talking about first, ‘Oh my god! He kissed her.’ Well, he flew to Germany to watch her perform, what do you think he did give her a kiss on the cheek?”
He urged the couple to stand up to their detractors and assertively tell them to get a life.
“They both need to look at everybody and say ‘Get a life’ if not ‘kiss my a**.’ Because you do get to a point where it’s like it’s ridiculous. What do you think they’re doing? They are an item.”
Smith’s comments defended Kelce and Swift while challenging the motives and priorities of their haters. He urged the couple to stand strong against the unwarranted criticism and prioritize their happiness over the opinions of others.
Has Taylor Swift backlash gone too far?
Taylor Swift is a global star with 13 Grammy awards and record-breaking tours and albums. However, it doesn’t mean she is safe from haters. For years, she has faced hatred from men as she achieved a lot as a woman, and she has also faced backlash for getting pretty privileged. However, recently, she has been receiving hate for supporting her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Swift started dating Travis Kelce in September and has since attended almost all the games of the Chiefs. Her presence in the games promoted TV networks to cover her most of the time during the game for increased viewership, which infuriated the true fans of football.
They accused Taylor Swift of destroying football and not letting the media show games and focus on her throughout the game. Some even declared the Karma Singer a distraction for Travis Kelce.
The hatred towards Taylor Swift reached another level when the Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC Championship Game against the Ravens and qualified for the Super Bowl LVIII. Haters created conspiracy theories that the whole game was scripted and the organization helped the Chiefs win the game to bring the Karma singer to the Super Bowl.
Despite the hatred, Taylor and Travis never let anyone affect their relationship. The pop icon has been continuously attending the Chiefs game and is even expected to attend the Super Bowl game in Las Vegas.
Another important thing to note is that her presence in the games has helped the Chiefs and the NFL earn $331.5 million and double the viewership, especially from female viewers. So, while haters will continue their negativity, Taylor Swift will keep supporting Travis Kelce and the NFL will keep taking advantage of it.
Taylor now faces the dilemma of making it to the Super Bowl in time after her show in Tokyo. Will she be there on time? Let us know what you think in the comments.
