Where is WWE Payback set to take place? The venue and date revealed for 2023 PLE

In 2023, the WWE Payback name will be reinstated. Since 2020 when a recently returned Roman Reigns began his legendary streak as Universal champion by winning the belt from Bray “The Fiend” Wyatt in a No Holds Barred Triple Threat that also included Braun Strowman, WWE hasn’t had an event under that name.

We’ll see if the timing of Payback has any impact on their choice. And what WWE will be bringing to us from Pittsburgh. Considering the latest Bloodline feud, and Roman’s 1000-day streak, there could be greater implications at play.

Where will WWE Payback 2023 happen?

The World Wrestling Entertainment evidently declared today that, WWE Payback will be broadcasted live and will be done so from PPG Paints Arena of Pittsburgh on Saturday, September 2. Wrestling Payback shall be streamed live globally on the WWE Network and exclusively on Peacock in the United States.

It is located in the Uptown neighborhood formerly recognized as the CONSOL Energy Center of Pittsburgh. The arena is home to both the Pittsburgh Power of the Arena Football League and the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL), both of which made their debuts in 2011.

The building’s construction was completed on August 1st, 2010, and it was prepared to open for the NHL season of 2010–11. The arena took over for the original home of the Penguins, Mellon Arena (now Civic Arena), which was finished in 1961. The foundation was officially broken on August 14, 2008.

The center was hailed as one of the top arenas in the world as soon as it opened in 2010, receiving “Best New Major Concert Venue” in the Pollstar Music Industry Awards and “Best NHL Arena” in a reader vote conducted by the Sports Business Journal. Consol Energy, which acquired the naming rights in December 2008, is honored by the arena’s moniker.

When was the last time the venue hosted a WWE event?

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s multipurpose indoor arena has played host to a bunch of exciting wrestling matches. The PPG Paints Arena transformed into a destination for WWE fans on September 1, 2022. Consequently, it served as the setting for a spectacular Main Event. On December 9, 2022, SmackDown made an exulting return to the exciting environment of the PPG Paints Arena.
